Our unit on Challenges of Urban Life and Community Support was filmed in the favela of Bom Jardim, Fortaleza.

In this unit, students explore some of the difficulties faced in urban neighborhoods and learn about the coping strategies and strengths developed by individuals and communities. They specifically study the work of Projeto Provoz, a grassroots organization created by local residents to support youth and families.

Students are also introduced to the story of Hudson Santiago, a young man who found inspiration in skate culture as a positive path for growth and as a way to encourage and guide others in his community.
