Canvases of Courage

March 2, 2016

“Canvases of Courage” is a documentary short-film by directing duo Gerard Bush & Christopher Renz (Bush|Renz) and executive produced by Marvin Bing for Art for Amnesty. The documentary follows the journey of celebrated artists from around the world, who created works of art in an effort to raise the visibility of unique, global stories of human courage - in the face of persecution and intolerance for Amnesty International USA's annual Write For Rights Campaign. The city of post-Katrina New Orleans serves as the backdrop for this powerful piece, which profiles Albert Woodfox (the last remaining incarcerated member of The Angola 3 who has since been released) Douglas Miles, Hebru Brantley, Jesse Krimes, Kristy Sandoval, Brandan "BMike" Odums, Sophia Dawson, Jerome Lagarrigue, Katie Yamasaki, Jessica Strahan, Alexandre Keto, Bayunga Kialeuka, and many other world-renowned artists, humanitarians, and human rights activists.
