Dear Friend:

In the US today, young people are growing up in an environment that normalizes extremist rhetoric and promotes xenophobic attitudes and beliefs that leave little room for compassion, cross-cultural dialogue, recognition of our shared humanity or the opportunity for direct action. This is not merely unfortunate, it is potentially catastrophic.

Humanity 360 is uniquely equipped to  bring global issues into the classroom in a way to build a greater understanding of the themes as well as to help generate compassion and curiosity. Utilizing interactive technology, including VR, we immerse students in the daily reality of individuals whose challenges speak to the gravity of what we’re facing in the world today. Our units explore topics like climate change and migration in Bangladesh, urban poverty and inequality in Brazil, and the impact of modernization on indigenous communities in Ecuador. The immediacy of virtual reality enables students to learn both on an emotional and an intellectual level, to see the world from a totally different point of view from their own.

Over the next 12 months, Humanity 360 is striving to bring a pilot program to hundreds of Cleveland-area high school students, and to expand to become part of the the social and emotional education curriculum in school districts across the US.

We are happy to announce that, just recently, the GlobalGiving Foundation selected us to participate in its Accelerator program, a fundraising opportunity that would enable us to achieve our goals faster and more fully. In order to succeed, we must raise at least $5,000 from no fewer than 40 donors by September 29. If we meet this threshold, we will be permanently featured on GlobalGiving’s website, where we have the potential to benefit from corporate relationships, exposure to a new donor network, and access to dozens of proven online fundraising tools.

But first, we need your help to reach our goal.

Be one of the first people to make a donation here. Your donation will help provide both the hardware and core curriculum to schools so we can begin to see the impact that social and emotional education has in the lives of students, communities and beyond.

Once you’ve made a donation we’re going to need your help to spread the word. Please share this with your friends and family. Forward this email. Share our campaign on social media. Reach out to your community. Working together, we can effect powerful change.

With warm regards,

Taya Pocock, Founder
